FOB Location

We are situated in an excellent location in central Toronto, minutes by car from major highways running in all directions to cities and towns across the province of Ontario. The same expressways lead west and south to the United States (Detroit, Michigan and Buffalo, New York) and east to Montreal, Quebec.

We are a five-minute walk from the University-Spadina subway line's Lawrence West station. Subway trains go from there every couple of minutes directly to and from the central bus terminal downtown and the central train terminal, Union Station. The subway is a great convenience for passengers going to major museums, theatres, shopping centres, sports arenas and other recommended sights locally.

In short, a personal vehicle is not really necessary for transportation because a first class system of public transport within easy reach of the hostel allows you, the guest, to inexpensively get to most tourist attractions as well as the general downtown area. Inevitably, you save the expenses of operating a vehicle and the steep parking charges of downtown lots (up to $15-$20 per day).

Three shopping centres are handy to the hostel. Yorkdale, one subway stop north, is the largest shopping centre in eastern Canada, boasting several hundred shops, movie theatres and restaurants. Within easy walking distance is a second plaza that has an ATM machine, bakery, pharmacy, coffee shop, restaurant, public library and a supermarket open day and night. Two hundred yards off in the other direction is a third shopping complex, featuring a department store, coffee shop, bank, medical offices, supermarket and numerous inexpensive restaurants. Dozens of international-style restaurants are minutes away by a municipal bus.
